In March 2022, YouTuber NINE-UP posted a video using the voiceover clip over images of Lightning McQueen.

The phrase, which encourages you to pull your skin off, is often attributed to the character Lightning McQueen, among others. Pull Off Your Skin is a catchphrase used in a February 2022 viral video by TikToker Lukeydumper as part of a macro trend within schizoposting. In the video, a text-to-speech voice says "Mater I need your help" twice over a static image of McQueen, then cuts to images of a wrecked car and a destroyed version of McQueen captioned "it was no accident" and "you were never my friend," garnering over 14,000 views in a month (shown below). On August 17th, NINE-UP posted a sequel to the video to YouTube.

The series follows Lightning McQueen and Mater going on the road trip where they will meet. On August 7th, 2022, YouTuber Back2Ben posted a remake of the meme, garnering over 100,000 views in a month (shown below, left). The video was reuploaded several times over the following weeks and inspired variations where users set the audio to new visuals. It was uploaded to the TikTok page the next day but only gained roughly 140 views in the same span of time. The video gained over 274,000 views in a month. On July 22nd, 2022, YouTuber NINE-UP posted a video titled "Lightning McQueen needs Mater’s help," in collaboration with TikToker In the video, Lightning McQueen asks Mater to perform CBT on him by hooking his tow up to his cock and balls and pulling tight, threatening that he "might do something bad" if Mater doesn't comply (shown below).
